On Quantum, Oasis and Icon Class ships, you can, and should, book your shows before you get onboard to lock in the times you want.
Shows and Entertainment onboard Royal Caribbean Ships
Royal Caribbean ships all have a variety of entertainment options that are included in your cruise fare. The newer and bigger ships usually
have a Broadway show adaptation, such as Hairspray, or Cats. Oasis and Icon class ships will have an Aqua Show in the Aqua Theater as well as an ice
show in Studio B or Absolute Zero. All ships will have a Royal Caribbean Production show in the Royal Theater, as well as singers and dancers, comedians
and other entertainers.
Cruises are absolutely packed with things to do, events to attend, shows to watch and so on. Sometimes, fitting it all in on a 7 day cruise is a bit of
a challenge! As well, most events and shows only happen a few times on each sailing, AND on some ships they require reservations, which adds to the stress of
trying to see it all. In order to help you fit in as much as possible, Royal Caribbean allows you to prebook some of the bigger and/or more
popular shows before you even get on board.
On Quantum Class, Oasis Class and Icon Class ships, you can use Royal Caribbean’s Cruise Planner, either through their website, or using the mobile
app, to reserve space at the big and popular shows that most people will want to see.
You can start reserving your shows online using Plan My Cruise starting on the first day of the month before your sailing date. Reservations can be
made up to four days before the sail date. If the sail date is less than four days away, or if reservations were not made prior to boarding, guests
will need to make reservations at the box office onboard. Again, make it a priority to make your reservations as soon as possible once you board
the ship.
Here are some other things to know about Royal Caribbean show reservations:
- Guests can view shows by date and time, select individual shows, and reserve one seating for each show.
- Guests can change or cancel their show reservations online up to four days before the cruise start date.
- Once onboard, cancellations must be made at least four hours prior to show time.
- Guests can pre-reserve shows for other guests by adding their reservation number and the last name of the primary guest. Check out our blog

Things to Keep in Mind
You really do want to book your shows before you get onboard, if at all possible, to ensure you’re able to see everything you want to see.
Unless you have Diamond Plus or Pinnacle status, or The Key, or you’re staying in a suite, you will want to show up to the venue and get in line
early in order to get the best seats.
However, it’s good to know that once you’re on the ship, if you do not have a reservation, there is what’s known as a standby line. 15 minutes before
show time, the venue will be opened to those in the standby line to fill any seats left over from people that did not show up for their reservation.
While you are taking a chance, there is a decent possibility you can get in this way, but you may not get the seats you’d prefer.
Oasis Class ships have an Aqua Theater, and you don’t want to miss the show. Book it as early into the cruise as you can. The reason for this is
that the show going on is often dependent on the weather. If there is a lot of wind, or the seas are a little rough, the show is often cancelled
because it’s too dangerous for the performers. If you book early on in the cruise, and your show is cancelled, you will automatically have a
reservation for the next show they put on.
Another note about the Aqua Show is that you don’t necessarily have to have reservations in order to see it. You can stand at the very back of
the venue and still have a fairly decent view. As well, you can hang out on the deck above (deck 7) at the loading area for the Rock Climbing
Wall and get a great view of the show.
The same holds true for Ice Shows in Studio B on Oasis Class ships. Studio B is a scaled down ice rink with high quality “Ice Capades” type
shows that you won’t want to miss. Studio B is located on a low deck in the center of the ship to minimize movement, but again, if seas are
too rough, they will cancel the show because it’s too dangerous for the skaters.
Many ships have a dedicated comedy club venue. The venue is small compared to the Royal Theater, and only holds two hundred or so people. Also, the
shows are VERY popular and sometimes difficult to get into. Be sure to reserve the comedy shows if you want to be sure to see them!
We hope you’ve found this informative and helpful. If you have any questions or feedback, we’d love to hear from you.
